Nice Job here Greg! The mist is a neat break in the frame and I love the light on the cars. This is a well planned image. I like it!

Nice pic Greg,,,,just for fun I adjusted the hue only, a few negative notches and it gave the trains a slight reddish hue, bringing out the rust..?..

    Re: Early Morning Train

Nice image - the specks (leaves?) in the water help to make the separation between the original and the reflection.

As an aside, I can't look at your river images without wondering where the fishermen are

    There's that light

There's some of that light I am always talking about. Nice shot Greg.

In addition to what everyone else says, I think the trees frame this really well. I don't know if the shot would be as dramatic without 'em. Really nice comp here Greg.

EOS you have made a believer out of me about when to shoot.
Mike, It's hard to avoid fisherman around the riiver banks this time of year. This one though was out of town. In Nearby Cartersville in some old stomping grounds.

Hmmm - It's almost a fantasy-type shot. With a little PP manipulation you could probably turn it into one of those. I love the reflection and composition overall. I think the weak pts of the shot are the overall lack of saturation, the sky (a bit too dull), and the leaves in the water that, to me, interfere with the feeling of tranquility. The cloud/fog is excellant.

    Re: Early Morning Train

I think the second version doesn't work for me with the blue sky because the blue of the sky isn't present in the water.

I'm for the original and echo what everyone else has said about composition.

That's a very appealing image but I'd go against Didache (so to speak!) and suggest that you clone out the specs in the water. That scene is dreamy and almost unreal but the specs break the smoothness and remind me that I am actually looking at reality... lol

    Re: Early Morning Train

    Greg,

At this size the leaves in the water look like noise, but at a big print they may add to the photo rather than detract. Only you can tell as this is too small for us to make that call.

I would check it out full size before deciding to clone out.

I okay with it either way but just wanted to make sure you checked both versions before proceeding.

It would have been great if there would have been a fishing boat in the water. Is there anyway you get get on the bridge and shoot down?

How about trying the "Orton Effect" on this on, just to see what you can come up with.
