    Early morning sunrise

    Hey everyone,

Ive been hard at it, shooting and practicing... trying to improve my skill. I was up early the other morning and managed to snap this shot of the sun rising over the lake by my house!
I would like to know your honest opinion on this shot!

Looks nice wide angle, but a tad off horizontal - lift the right edge a bit.
I wish you could get the red flare out of the centre.

The red flare is distracting, but you have a really nice sky and reflection. I wish the dock was more prominently displayed in the foreground instead of the darkish shoreline which doesn't add enough interest for me.

The sky and lake look great, but you really need something in the foreground to add some interest to the photo. Like Chris said, the dock would make a good subject of interest in the foreground [edit: if it were more prominent. I think the exposure is fine though]. Also, try to get out there a few minutes earlier, before the sun has risen completely over the horizon. The bright, overexposed blob is distracting. You are also less likely to get that lens flare this way. Since this is right by your house, I'm sure you will have the chance to practice some more. And keep that horizon level!

For me, the dock is exposed just enough, and when printed I think it may look OK.
I had a reminder to reprofile my monitor this morning (every 2 weeks) so I'll go do that ans see if it looks any different.

I think you got pretty good detail in the foreground considering you were shooting right into the sun. I agree that the flare should be cloned and I think you should try a get rid of the jet stream too. I think a little PPing should fix this one up fine.
