this picture needs a boost in color and brightness

Though I love the potential for this shot, it's just too underexposed for me to be moving. Definately looks like a great setting though it just needs that boost in saturation and brightness. Was this shot digital or film? It seems a tad soft also.

Nice shot and welcome to the boards,

    Jared

Thanks for the ideas and I was really pleased with the reponse to this. As a novice I think I captured the settings really well. The shot was taken with film not digital and at the time I was in a flat in a village called St jeannet which is about a hour outside of Nice but overlooks the city and was taken at about 04:30 in the morning after a rainstorm.

Once again thanks for the advice and if anybody thinks they could lighten it up then I would be grateful and would love to see the outcome.

This would really be an eye-popping shot at sunset. Aside from what else you've gotten in terms of suggestions, I'd like to add that I think you could crop off some of the bottom of the frame to lower that horizon line. JMHO, though. I like your composition too.

Welcome aboard,DG. This is a good start and a nice pic to share with us. Have taken the liberty to see if I could lighten it up and maybe get to see a little more detail. This was as far as i could push it without changing the colours that were already there. Technical parts are pretty good too in this shot, horizon level, exposure time just about as good as it gets and content very interesting. Looks like a lovely place to visit have you any of the actual place itself? if so please post.

A beautiful peaceful shot. I like the patches of lifting fog.
The shot seems shifted toward green to me.

thanks to yourself and chunk, Bobby, for your comments. I do have another picture of a dainty little chapel in the centre of the town if anybody's interested?
