    A Drop In Time

I have been practicing with still droplet photos. This was my first attempt and here is the photo I liked the best. I would like opinions and thoughts about this picture. I noticed the background "shadows" on the blue. I had a problem with the water splattering onto the background piece of paper and getting it wet.

    Thanks for checking it out.....

Very cool. Trivial to take the shadows out in PP if you want, but who cares? They don't bother me. Probably not canonical with the purists though.

Nice red in the foreground. In fact I like the hyper art-glass colors in general.

Tell me how to do this....

    Re: A Drop In Time

Thanks for the encouraging words. I am enjoying learning my camera and seeing the world around me in a whole new way.

ok....here's the info on how i did it....

I shot this pic in my kitchen sink.

    1. I placed a colorful plate in the sink (used carving board to elevate level of plate some). This is what will color the bottom of the droplets. You can use anything with color.

    2. I placed a glass dish (regular glass baking dish, approx. 2 1/2" deep) on top of the plate. The dish needs to be glass because all the reflections and color are produced by it. Fill to rim with water.

    3. Held a colored piece of paper behind the rim of dish, so it filled the frame. Turn on the water to whatever speed I wanted to drops falling and started shooting.

I obtained this information from a website forum.

    Have fun!

Looks good. Creative idea, I like it. I am surprised you were able to get it that sharp with a shutter speed of only 200.

Wow you caught the drop sharp, I agree not to sure about the splatter on the back as you suggest. Shot could look great in red, going by the red colour in the foreground. Otherwise great first try well done.
