    driver, reflected

I'm not sure about this, I got what I was aiming for.
But I'm not sure the driver and his reflection is enough to offset the big white support for the window he's reflected in, and the table.

    Re: driver, reflected

I think this is an artsy shot that might work better in black and white. The things that bug me are, the white pole separating the two profiles, the mic covering the guy's face in the left, even though it is revealed on the right.

    Paul,

This works for me, What I really like is the angles you captured which lead your eye through the photo, regardless of the support which to me adds the essential break thats needed to give it interest.

The lighting and color balance/flesh tones are excellent. I agree this is an artsy shot. It works for me. The pole and moulding in the center had me thinking at first that it was two shots presented together as a diptych. As Liban said the mic in front of the face was a problem, but the reflection sort of puts that to ease a bit because we have the view there without it because of the reflections angle.
The whole balance of the image is comfortable and pleasing. I think this works, and would wonder if the driver felt the same. I bet he would

One thing I don't get here is the driver bit. What is he driving? I would have thought he was a commentator perhaps. He is very tidy and clean as though he is an admin man.
Most importantly though is the fact that you got what you were aiming for Paul and the image looks very good.

    Re: driver, reflected

This is Bruno Spengler, DTM driver.
I've got a shot like this of each of the Mercedes drivers at their press conference.
Because it's on the 1DSmkII and RAW, I think I can produce acceptable headshots as well cut out form the left side if I have to.
But I've been thinking about how to get something different, and may have hit it this year.
Of course if other people copy me then next year I've got to invent again...

We'll see how good they are if the drivers like them when they sign them next week

I think it works as well. The pole really doesn't bother me and as Gary stated the reflection offsets the distraction. I like the Mercedes logo on the mike in the reflection, good eye and nice timing.

    Re: driver, reflected

I definitely like it and consider it a successful approach to getting the shot. I would really object to the straight ahead microphone up your nose angle if you didn't have the reflected image for comparison to show just how far away the mic is from his face. Plus I think the alternate angle is slightly more flattering but made twice as interesting by having the real thing to compare to. I think you've hit it here Paul.
The pole is a divider but not a problem.

    Well done.

It was also a great bit of forethought to leave that nice wide open spot on the top right for them to place their signature without getting in the way of the portraiture

I had to come back to this one a few times, but the more I look at it, the more I like it and think it's going to turn out to be a big hit.
