    Dramatic effect

He is the most animated child I have ever seen, maybe its just because I'm dad.

Looking for comments and suggestions on dramatic lighting effect, wondering of ways to further dramatize the extreme expression here. Even into possibly surreal/abstract territory.

No children were hurt in the making of this image. He is constantly dramatizing his expressions. As an example, a shot taken 27 seconds prior is also included. :P

Yeah I also like the curl in the hair on the side.

They are both pretty nice. It is too bad, though, that the eyes aren't lit up a bit more. Nice focus though.

The eyes are as lit up as they can be, I added another soft light layer with white brush over the iris, any higher opacity and it would have just looked fake.

    50mm f/1.7, I friggin love that lens.

Funny expression. You're on the right track with that

I think the shots are a bit soft, esp the eyes, which really need to be the sharpest part of a portrait. Not sure if the lighting of them is all that important for these are artsy shots, not studio glamour or anything. However, I still would like to see some area of the shot be sharper, preferably the eyes.

I guess the lighting in the eyes and front of face could have been better and helped some, but it makes no difference in that this is a great photo because of your subject and his expression. Its priceless.
    Love it.
