Nice colors, exposure, composition , shooting dragonflies can be tricky, one moment they are completely still, blink, and they are gone, did you try shooting it from the front ?

I did try shooting it from the front. Unfortunately I was only able to get a clean side shot. I'll post it up.

Just the colors? Is there anything else you like, Erik? What do you think he could have done to make this photo better? Remember this is a forum for serious photo critique. When we post comments here, we should always try to take a moment to really give each photo some thought and offer some really useful criticism

    Re: Dragonfly

I do love the colors but I find the photo distracting. I realize the subject matter is the dragonfly, however my eye goes to the plants that it is sitting on and the big empty space in the upper right corner. I think this isn't the best angle of the dragonfly and I know you said this was the only clean one you had, but I feel like the whole image was just a last second shot and this was all you got. It's not really showcasing anything. This is just my opinion, and I can tell from the quality of the image that you probably do great work, i'm just not a fan of this particular image. I would love to see more though!

    nice images

the dragonfly looks sharp enough but it compete with the flower on camera right, especially that bright spot at the bend, personally i'd crop it out
