Believe it or not this photo was taken with a telephoto lens. Equipment used was:

Nikon D3X
Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8f VR telephoto zoom lens
Profoto 2400R Power Pack
3 profoto D4 strobe heads with soft boxes on them

I mainly shoot people and was preparing an outdoor shoot and this guy was flying around so I turned 1 of the lightheads in to his/her direction and popped off about 100 pics at an F of 2.8. Some photos were natural light and some were not. I actually haven't hada chance to go thru all of them bc I'm incredibly busy shooting, editing, directing, writing etc...

As soon as I get a chance to manipulate them again I will and I'll definitely try the smaller crop.
