    The Dough Boys

This is a scene I passed everyday. they have since been broken up, and so i cannot reshoot this as i wanted to. After looking at it again i thought it did not come out too bad afterall.
    What do you think?
    thanks

No need to reshoot this one. Only nitpick would be I'd like ti better with out the steel sinks in the shot but, no biggie. This is a great find!...LOL Nice shot Gary

    Re: The Dough Boys

My first thoughts were that how wonderful it would be if one "live" human was to be found somewhere discreet in the composition. But I don't feel that strongly about that now.
What I really like is the unsaturated colours of the characters and other parts making them all very much at home with the mono style of the building.
The Dough Boys look happy to have been of service to you Gary.

I think that it is a well composed shot. You might try and clone out the SUV in the reflection. But it's very minor issue and is not to distracting. I really like it. I have a night shot of a Mexican Band I have been meaning to go shoot. I hope I do as well as this. Very Nice.

    Re: The Dough Boys

    Thanks Aaron, Tom and Greg.

Aaron, I wish the steel sinks were not there also, but everyday they put them out there with the dough boys. thanks, glad you got a laugh

Tom, Yes, these characters are hamming it up for me lol. I was lucky to finally get the shot as they broke up the merry bunch.

Greg, good idea about the reflection. i might give it a go to see if it offers less distraction.
What I loved about this scene, and is not there anymore, is the 3 figures in the window looking at these guys. Especially the lady pig looks as if she is admiring the trio.
    thanks guys

I think it's a really cool shot. I also like how the pig inside appears to be looking at the others out front. I have nothing to add to what the others have said. I like it Gary.

    Hi Gary,
The first thing comes to my mind is why dough retarders? Back to the photo, I like how the statues are arranged and they do not block each other. I just feel something is missing there to make the photo punch. I am not sure; maybe a human face looking out the window? I suppose the photo brings a good memory to you. Thanks for sharing.

Gary, I like the muted colors also. I think Greg has a point....the SUV reflection should be eliminated.

yoyo, Actually, this is a store that sells equipment for pizzerias and Italian restaurants. They also sell these characters that attract customers to the shops. "Dough Retarders" are actually mechanical devices but the sign above these whacky looking statues always brought me a laugh. Thanks for your thoughts on this

Tyson. . .thanks, glad it works for you.

John. . .yes, I agree. i think the reflection can go. thanks for commenting

Juango. . .this was shot on the Bowery right off Rivington street. I know you must be familiar with the area. Between Houston and Delancy

Quirky and wacky - what a cast of characters. Very enjoyable shot, Gary. For me, the sinks are quite an appropriate addition to the scene...

    Re: The Dough Boys

Hey Gary, I have to agree with Tuna, I like the sinks in. The shot makes me homesick, I lived in Jersey and would go into "The City" just to shoot with my old SRT101's and Ricohflex TLR.

This is a little different for you Gary, which is a good thing!
I am with Tuna on the sinks, it adds to the scene.
    Keep seeing!
