    Don't Make Him Angry

Artist revisited. Does it work moodwise? Is it convincing effectswise?

    Any other thoughts appreciated.

    Re: Don't Make Him Angry

    Wow!

My first impression actually was that this looks like something out of a "horror film" or something of that sort. The "crackle" effect to his skin is very riveting I think it works very well, and as previously mentioned, very striking and powerful mood.

The single thing which "bugs" me a bit about this shot is I wish there was more room for his chin/forehead. Perhaps a vertical-format, or 3:2 ratio, cropped from the wider original if you have it? Really good work overall.

The effect is convincing and moving. This is quite powerful. I find the crop to be very effective. The centering works great with the space on each side and the tight crop on head and chin. It's as if were are getting a llok at this disturbing face through a narrow window which seems to add to the tension. Enough revealed to startle us and yet not enough to take away from our imagination.
    Great work here.

    Re: Don't Make Him Angry

I am wondering what you were hoping to convey? My first impression, like the other posters, is of a sinister, almost horror-film character. Someone creepy, peering in the window. On that level, it certainly succeeds - indeed, I think it would be hard to see it any other way. The reason I ask the first question is because I am not sure that was your intent - or perhaps it was?

    Cheers

The penetrating stare of those glassy eyes makes for almost compulsive viewing. Gosh, it's hard to know what to say.

    Re: Don't Make Him Angry

Thanks, guys. So I take it the mud/paint-face effect works okay? That was actually my main concern here.

Alex - I was going for a "cinematic crop," wherein the top and bottom are pretty tight. But I do see what you're saying. I'll have to go back to the original (which wasn't nearly as tightly-cropped), leave in more at the bottom, and see how that looks.

Mike - my intent evolved into "horror flick." But it basically started out as an innocent PP exercise.

    Thanks again!

Shades of Dr. Hannibal Lecter. I have no intention of making this guy angry.

Your work in this shot is MORE than effective.

(I wonder if I will be able to get any sleep tonight after looking at that guy. WOW!)
