Its only 115 metres down the onboard flash wouldn't reach any further LOL
Couldn't get the shot without me in it - will have to go back and try again.

Sorry, I don't mean at the bottom of the stairs, in the centre, that's fine.
Bottom edge of the picture, there's what looks like a flash shadow of the camera lens or something?
I get that when I use the lens hood on my P&S A1 and A2, then shoot wide angle.

The 115metre comment is in reply to your comment of too late you looked.
I understood the comment about the shadow, which is mine from the reflection of the flash off the white walls. If I'd had the tripod I would have fired it remotely so that I wouldn't be there at all.
Yoyo,
Only my daughter looking up co-operated for the shot. All the others kept going as they were feeling a touch of vertigo.

Ah, I'm surprised your shadow comes from the wall reflections.
Were you using the built-in flash?
I guessed it was your daughter posing, it adds a nice human element to the picture, compared to the rest going down. My wife would just never go up
It's a place I'd like to photograph now I've seen yours !
Paul,
I just checked and yes I used the built in flash not the auxiliary so you probably are correct and its the lens hood causing the shadow. I'll have to watch out for that in the future.
