Gotta disagree. I think the dad makes the composition and helps to balance it out.

Hello, AF. Welcome to PR. Most new members need a little time to find their way around the PR forums - that's certainly understandable. This is the Critique Forum, and that's what we do here - offer opinions.

Apparently you are just looking for technical assistance, and there are plenty of nice, knowledgeable people here who can help. Maybe the Forum Moderator can move your thread to the forum that will best suit your need - probably the Help Forum or maybe the Viewfinder Forum. I wish I could help you - but I know less than you about this. Good luck! Great looking dog and nice capture!

    Re: dog

    But since you're in critique:

I love the what you have here. It's a true welcome. Your dad, your dog and two chairs with cold drinks just waiting. You could work on the technical aspects - such as the shadows and the focus in his eyes (not his nose) - but I think this is a great foundation.

I like the feeling of this shot and the elements you have here. The only thing that I do not like is the dogs face is a bit out of focus. Other than that it's good.

Look forward to seeing more from you.

I like the fact you father is in the background. I might change d.o.f. to bring your father a bit more in focus. This might be a neat photograph to convert to b and w. Looks like you have a great dog waiting for you each day.

Gonna be tough cloning that out. I think it could be done, but it would be a serious chore.
