    A Different Perspective

This is a shot that actually benefits from HDR, I think.

I know I've been going crazy with HDR lately, but make no mistake, I know that it hurts photos usually, rather than add to them.

Let me know what you think and how it could've been better.

Looks good to me. Don't change anything.

    Re: A Different Perspective

Yeah - great use of HDR. I can't tell you used it

I love this location and the way you've used the architecture to frame the background - very nice. The only thing I'm not sure about is the photographer - the one in the photo, not you

I like having a person there but that person being a photographer sort of makes me think too much about the process and not enough about the scene. It might have made a better photo to have that other photographer stand in the same place and look away, without the camera.

Where is this, anyway? I love the buildings and landscaping. It's beautiful and you did a great job of making me want to know more.

    Re: A Different Perspective

Ah I thought I responded, but no post?

Anyway, very good use of HDR, cool range, good work. I see what PJ means now about the photographer, since he said that, now I want to see it without anybody in it.

The one thing that confuses the image for me is the specular quality of light in the garden doesn't seem to match the dark stormy clouds in the back. The way the clouds look doesn't seem to coincide with how the garden looks. Every time I look at the image it sort of strikes me as a contradiction and is distracting. Can you do an edit with a tamer sky?

    Re: A Different Perspective

    Thanks Greg.

John, I never thought about it like that before. Now that you said that, I agree. It would've been nicer with a person taking in the scene, and not a photographer. Thanks for the advice, It'll be something I will surely remember next time!

This is Alhambra (famous Islamic Palace in southern spain) It is the #1 most visited in Spain and for good reason. Absolutely stunning. It's in the town of Granada, Southern Spain. If you ever find yourself in Spain, don't miss it

Anbesol, that happens to me sometimes too. I know I posted a comment then come back and it's gone. I think it might be a server issue. Specially after a server crash, those tend to happen to me.

I think the confusion about the light is because of the HDR. The garden wasn't so bright in the original. it was a bit greyer, but adding contrast makes the garden pop more and maybe that's why you're just not feeling this.

Here's the original straight from the cam.

    Pretty boring. LOL
