    Desperately Seeking Color

I went to the Botanic Gardens last week with my daughter seeking warmth and color. Found it!

    Re: Desperately Seeking Color

CLK...I like all three of these a lot! I'm torn between the 1st and 3rd as my fave though...the first because the color is just SO vivid, and there seems to be a face or two in the flower. The only problem I see with that one is the little silhouette of stem (?) on the bottom and a shadow in the top corner that distract me a little.
The bottom one I love because the brighter bloom or fern is mimicked by the green in the background...it's really very cool.

    Re: Desperately Seeking Color

    Thanks for the response!

Emily- I know what you mean about the little faces in the center of the orchids. Here's a set of white orchids that have little "jaguar faces" in the center.

Ken - What a good Daddy you are! I would have done the same thing if it had been my baby. But at least I know my focus was "sharp" enough to convey the "point" of those little cactus flowers. (Oooh! Someone stop me before I pun again!!!)

Ooh...the one you just posted, that's my fave of these! I like the composition a lot, and like you said, the "faces" are really cool.

    Re: Desperately Seeking Color

I was favoring number 1 because of the color, face and comp (I love the curving aspect of your vision). But then I saw the white ones and it all fell away. What a wonderful, wonderful image!! I would like the second better with some back lighting to make the texture pop more. And I really like the third for the very reasons Emily listed. But that white one! WOW! I love how you have it flowing downward.

    Re: Desperately Seeking Color

Looks like a neat place to spend the day shooting! The top shot is my favorite. I know how difficult it can be to get a really sharp macro shot, but at least it was indoors right? If so, no wind!
