Very nice ...like the clouds ...the only thing that bugs me is the graffiti on the on the garage door on the left ...don't know why ...it kind of doesn't fit ...
I like it, but the HDR is slightly noticable and really hurts the image for me. I am generally not a fan of HDR, but this one is very mild. If only a little milder, I want to see what it really looked like when you shot it.
I may be easy to please, but I like it. I might tone down the sky a little - darken it just a tiny bit - but that's a maybe. I love the look of your HDRs; you really have a unique take on an otherwise hackneyed technique. No mean feat.
Thanks anbesol, I'll put up a straight out of the camera image at the end of this post. I bracketed 5 shots for this image. The one I'll post below is the +1 one. coming to think of it. I actually might prefer it to the HDR. eventhough it's light. I really don't know though.
Armando, no, the colours were a bit different. I'll post below. And yes it's Venice ;-)
Seth, yeah the sky is a little too light. It was actually lighter than this and I made it darker already, but I think i haven't gone dark enough. Thanks.

I don't know about this one Liban ... something, probably composition, is bothering me. It may be that there's nothing in the middle, leaving a big hole. In a scene like this the viewer can sometimes feel like they're in a vehicle and are navigating down the river, but here I feel that I am too high for that. I like the effect though it does leave me wanting for something to make it pop, perhaps a spot of red.
Tried a somewhat radical edit on your original pic.. Not sure it talks to the viewer, but what the heck... Here it is.
Venice is naturally photographic, but shots of it ever-so-slightly have the same dilemma as boat photos - easy to get a 5 or 6 out of 10, but hard to get a really great shot.

Love the original HDR version, and especially dig the sky. The sky really adds to it for me.
comp is working i feel. i think just saturating it a bit more as the colors are adding to it and help provide depth and eye candy.
GB, yeah too high to be taking a ride in the canal, i hear you. I see your edit, but doesn't look too radical lol. looks a bit less exposure, unless i'm missing something. I like the feeling it gives, but one thing I don't like, which is why I didn't go for something like this when I tried it, is how the overblown bits in my original come out totally unnaturally grey in your edit. like the right side lamp. it looks bright but if you look closer it's really light grey. This is one problem with my shots when I shoot jpeg, can't bring back the blown highlights without making them a light grey (unnatural).
But thankfully, I bracketed this shot so I have 3 shots that are less exposed than the one i shared. the one i shared was the +1. I still have the (0) (-1) & (-2) to get those highlights back. Thanks for showing me what your thoughts were.
Gary, glad you liked it. I'm surprised you like the HDR one better in this one. Yeah, I lost lots of the saturation. There was a time were my shots where super colourful, nowadays, I think i went too much the other way sometimes!
Slowerthensnot, thank for the advice!
Greg, Thanks. Yeah, I think i lost too much of the originals colour here.
