    Resting until spring

I've been playing around a bit more with BW recently, and decided to shoot these paddles after coming inside yesterday. They were just leaning there in the corner of my garage, as is... I just had to move some pvc pipe out of the way.
I'm really happy with the 'natural' composition and the way the angles play off each other, but I'd like to get other's opinions of this. Does it work? How can I make it better?

Shot with generic Kodak 400 c-41 on my Elan.

    Thanks,
    -Chris

    Re: Resting until spring

Did you crop this? I think I'd like to see a little more breathing room around it, if possible. I see a chain in the background, if you included it in the photo it would add a nice shape contrast to an image that has very nice tonal contrast already. I'd like to see the whole bottom of the front paddle.

I like the light in this very much. Especially how the edges hold the highlight.

    Kelly,
Nope, the tight frame was done in the initial comp. Unfortunately, if I had gone wider to get the chain, I would have had some rather unsightly garage door apparatus in the shot. I agree on getting the bottom of the oars though, and maybe another one that was behind these three. I think i'll play around with this shot a bit more (just need more film and the right light
