Some cameras do OK at ISO 800 and some don't do that well. I shot an indoor volleyball game at 1200 (or was it 1250?) and they turned out extremely grainy, worse than this, so this looks right about what you would expect.
I just to use a photo lab in Germany and there was an excellent outdoors photographer there who had a lot of tricks on how to get great shots of wildlife with slower ISO speeds. If he was shooting 200 ISO wide open at f 4.0 the shutter speed would still be ~ 1/2 second or more, so just before he shot he would whistle to make the deer freeze, then shoot away. He usually got a number of shots in before the deer bolted. Worth a try next time
