    Is it dead(wood) or alive?

This is a shot I took earlier this year while in the Red River Gorge area. This was an area at the base of Grey's Arch. I saw this piece of driftwood and loved the way it looked as water dripped down on it. Hope you all like it.

I can see what you were aiming for, I am wondering if a different angle wouldn't have better accented it? Nice concept though, I love wood like that..........

I think that is one of those things you second guess about afterwards. I have wondered what it may have looked like from the left side al most level with the top of the wood. Oh, well, guess I can always schedule another trip there sometime. Thanks for the comments.

I like the concept too. It looks a little flat to me, as well (almost all of mine are flat, I'm really good at that). Maybe catching it at a different time of day where some shadows might give it a little more umph?

I have thought of that and cannot remember now. (Makes mental note to self; Self, you really need to do a better job of writing down photo info. Self responds with the usualy sarcastic, Yeah whatever) I very well could have used my flash on that shot. I know it was a little on the dim side down where I was. Not sure if that would have given that impression.

I really like this image. I hope you don't mind I did a little tweaking of it in PSE. Just reduced the highlights and adjusted the hue a little. It appeared that the washed out/flat problem was coming from your background and I just wanted to see if altering it improves that. I think there is potential here keep playing with it.

Re: Is it dead(wood) or alive?

Thanks, CL, for the comments. Having seen some of your work here, I will take those as high compliments. As far as tweaking, I don't have a problem with anyone doing that on my images. That's why I am here; to try and learn from those that are better at it than I am. I made a mistake not getting Photoshop Elements, I think it is. (Can't afford the other high priced versions) So now I am limited to what I can do with the cheaper software I got plus two free downloaded programs I found. I am really still learning how to use any of the programs to make my pics better.
