    A Dead Sunflower

    Hey everyone!
Its been a few months since I've posted anything on here. I thought I found a new group, but they weren't as genuine as you all. Sorry for leaving. haha

This shot here is of a dead sunflower. I liked this shot so much that I took this one on 35mm and printed it at my school and it looks really nice big on my wall.

I don't want it, I just need it...to breath ...to feel ...to know I'm alive.

    Re: A Dead Sunflower

Welcome back. I've also tried another group (at the same time as PR) and found it wanting in many respects.

I think you have something with this shot. But although the shallow DOF is really the biggest part of it, IMO, it might be a little too shallow, for I can't really see what's going on. Also, I think it would be better as a monochromatic shot rather than B&W. Try sephia - it might work.

Wonderful image. Beautifully toned. The perspective and narrow DOF, for me, is very appealing. Bravo!

I'm with Tuna, the DOF and tone work perfectly for me. I might wish for a squarer (is that a work?) frame as I think the black background adds little but that is just a small wish.

    Nice one!
    No, I DON'T need that.

Nice work. I agree this one works well. I bet this doesn't do a print justice.

I would crop everything but the sharp part of the petals and make a pure texture shot.

This is exactly what occurred to me when I saw the shot. It's very nice, but maybe a hair more dof is the only thing I think I could say for sure, and possibly what GB mentioned, it looks good in BW but to me not 100% what it should be, I"m not sure.

    thanks
