    DC Subway....

The subway system in DC was great for us on our trip last month. Why can't Los Angeles be as good??

    Re: DC Subway....

The pic is pretty straightforward, more of a "that's how it looked" photo than a creative endeavor. Hard to get different shots of subways ... Photos of people on the train would prob be the best, but they might wonder why you're taking shots of them.

Anyway, it is one of the cleanest and safest in the country... I dont know about the LA's but SF's is pretty nice too. Problem with western subway systems is that the cities are so sprawled that there aren't many central locations that a train system can efficiently deliver people to. LA is one of the least-designed cities I've seen in that respect (Houston Tx is another).

    Anyway, back to photography..

I do like it, I wish that you had better lighting on the right side though.

But I do like the movement.

Thank you both for your comments.

Personally, I liked the shapes above and the leading lines. Pretty easy in a subway I guess.

I wish I considered doing some second curtain flash effects.

i agree with GB. The book I'm reading right now puts it pretty well. "avoid the 5'7" syndrome." the angle really defines the look of a photo, and this one, being shot from normal height that people are used to looking at, doesn't make it really stand out.

I often times forget to practice what I sometimes 'preach'. Shooting down from one knee does make a difference at times. This was just a grab shot. By the time the train got to me......I boarded it

i love the metro station in DC. my favorite city... but this photo, i feel, could have used a longer exposure of the train. getting an elongated train gives the photo movement. also it could help light the left side of the photo up...just my two cents.
