    DC this morning

Since I commute right by here most days I ought to take pix every so often. So I do......

A little rain yesterday left a convienent puddle but there was not a cloud in the sky today.

the first one is great, the socond one too red (i know its the sun but it's hard to tell where it comes from if you don't know it, it looks unnatural), the third one isn't much of a burner, except you used a wide angle and managed to get that close

I like the color and effect on #1 but it is leaning. Same with the color on #2 but I feel the shadow across the face takes away from the image.

Darn ducks wouldn't leave me alone, I think they are used to being fed.

I checked this with a grid and the actual Washington Monument is just the way it should be (both sides leaning in) but I think the double reflection may make it look odd if you don't put a line to the thing.

    Hi MB1,

I like the first one for sure. I agree that the monument looks straight, but the reflection looks a little off. Weird...but cool none the less.

I think you could have left the steps off the Lincoln shot. I don't think they add anything, but I do like that you included a person.

The duck is interesting, but not really a great shot. The duck is too dark, and the sky is blown out. Not much you could have done about that and still include the monument in the bg.

love the first image MB, the colours are spectacular!! I don't even mind how the monument is dead centred. Beautiful shot.

    Re: DC this morning

    MB,

Decent results here. I like how the bird sits there w/ the monument behind him(her). Too bad the bird itself is so dark -- fill flash would take care of that (if you know how to set it for situations like this - I don't know what the equation is).

The Lincoln shot with the warm glow is great but I hate the steps in it. The hurt the rest of the shot imo.

The monument and reflection pool is nice. The shot is good, but perhaps a tad cliche. I do see a slight tilt of the monument there. If I were you I'd get the real one straight and just let the reflection fall where it may.

Anyway, I think it's worth it for you to get up early and shoot these. See if you can mix it up even more though, trying a few different subjects. Can you get any early morning joggers (some blur might be good), newspaper readers, dew on flowers, etc?

    Thanks for the ideas.

I actually do most of my posting in the RoadBikeReview Commuting/Touring Fourm (I'm the moderator). That forum isn't limited to the number of images nor does it have the size limits that this forum does so I post a bigger variety of stuff.

There is a lot of bicycle related photography going on there.

You have to register there too.......

I really love the first image...It is not often that I believe that photos should be framed and hung on a living room, but that One, I would..It is very pleasant to look at...Great shot and great photo work!!!!.
