My very first impression of this is that the light was put there by Photoshop, but I'm sure it's not. Lack of interest in the composition is my main problem with this Seb. I'm wondering what lies beyond in the darkness that might help this out. But in the context of a series this would definitely have it's place.

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan
Seb - I like the effect, but I'm not so excited about the subject. The way the light shines though and illuminates the area and the black background is neat.
This one kind of creeps me out. I keep looking into the dark to see what is in there. And the light tells me that there must be a way out (an escape) but I can't see it and it's probably out of reach. I do like it technically, however.
Well Seb, this image is actually growing on me some and while at first i thought it was ok I now think it is quite effective. I'll agree that the subject seems a little weak, but then there is that great lighting with the mysterious blackness . It almost seems to resemble a snake slithering out of the black and into view. But it might be safer to view from up above where the light source is shining through but here we are down in the pit to face the creature. Ok, ok maybe getting carried away, but I'll agree with Tom in that this definetly will work well in the context of the series and other composition from the location.
Great use of light and I personally don't mind the subject, I just don't think there's enough focus on it. I would crop off a little bit of the top but still leave some of the dark area. Great shooting though and nice use of light and contrast.
Tom: Yes and no. lol I tried to amplify the effect of the lighting in Camera Raw by playing on parameters such luminosity, shadow and exposure but there's been strictly no dodging and burning in Photoshop. Thanks for your direct comments.
GB: Thanks for your honnesty.

Gary: Thanks for your support, as always.
Jared: It's good to see you back! Thanks for your suggestions.
I'm enjoying the pit effect here Seb, but I think this image isn't as interesting as the others in your series. It might be the pitch dark in the back that's throwing me off. I think you should try to open up the background a bit, even if we get a little bit of an idea of whats going on.

I like the concept but I either don't like the lighting or the subject. If the subject is the pipe, then I am bothered because the brightest spot is to the right of it. Throws me off.
On a side note, I am just waiting to see the eyes of an unknown creature in the darkness.
