dark side of depression

here i have two shots one in color and the next in b&w, its sunlight briefly shinning through a window casting light to the floor, going for a moody shot thinking the b&w would lean more to that,but like the little patch of color it offers,any comments on the composition and possible mood it offers.

I like them both, but I do feel the B&W is a stronger image for what you are trying to convey.

I like them a lot, I think it would really set an depressed mood if you tinted the black and white, blue.

I would agree with the last post, add a blue tint to it and I think it would correct convey the mood you are going for.

thanks guys for your input i took this next image back to the drawing board and changed the white balance more to incandescent under the black and white version,to give the blue tint.

I think it could use a little more information about whats behind that door. The way it is ther's toomuch black space.

thanks for all looking, there is actually no door there,its a frame of a doorway,seeing whats on the other side is not important here,,its the darkness surrounding the light,as one knows, sunlight offers life i sense of hope warmth, but the light is surrounded by so much darkness, just enough to see structure around to know life most exist,but so much darkness would give a sense of despair and depression,this is what i'm trying to give the mood of, color vs black and white vs tint of blue, all of the same subject,not too much light to over power the image,not too much of the scenery to distract your eyes,but just enough to make one ponder, so if composition is good, which picture protrays the effect i'm going for the best, all constructive critism is greatly appreciated.
