Looks like a sunburst, or a mini-explosion, or a sunflower. And yes, the black background is an excellant background for it.

I normally would say the focus needs to be sharper, but not having it really sharp is hhwat helps make this image for me. I like what you did with the blur and the black bg just helps pop the yellow colors. It has a very artsy print type feel to it. Very good work.
