    CDP,

Great shot. I love the contrast here of the flowers and the metal bench and the shadows are superb. The colors seem somewhat flat for me IMO so maybe a tad more saturation would really help. The shot is very sharp and I love the contrast of colors here.

    Well done, good shot.

    Re: The Daffodil Bench

    Hi DRG,

I really like how the flowers are connected to the bench through the flowers on the bench itself...and the shadows are very nice. The only thing I would comment on otherwise, is that I'm wishing that the bricks were a different color. I don't care as much for the yellow/white behind the daffodils...I think a deeper color would bring out their yellow more. But obviously, some things we don't have total control over...

    Re: The Daffodil Bench

    Jared & Emily,

Thanks for the feedback and comments. This worked out to be one of those 'golden hour' shots with that last hour or so of daylight. The bricks had enough silica (or similar) that even indirect strobes and softbox light wanted to sparkle. This was pretty much the last chance shot. I made several over a twenty minute period and this one was (IMHO) probably the best.

The bricks are golden/yellow so no control over them! The color is set to be very neutral for press work. In fact the daffodils and a now cloned out color chart card, were used to set the color and WB via a pure white reference. The gallery version with a different frame also plays one of those perception tricks and I think helps the appearance of the color.

Emily, we all commented about the bench and how it would work. If only they were a little different shape flower in the wrought iron . . . (another thing not in our control)

I liked how the shadows fell as well, and check out how the yellow tinted mortar looks in the shadowed area. At this size I was pleased it showed show clearly.

    Again, thanks for your comments!
