    A Daddy's Love

There are several things wrong with this, but I wanted to post it anyway. My son, holding his newborn daughter, and our first grandchild. I wish I'd gotten a better shot, but the moment was so brief, and I fired it off quickly.

The only thing that I see is the Dad's ear is a little out of focus, but I see more things right than not. For one you filled the frame with your subject, framed it well and you also captured a beautiful moment. Congrats...

Yeah Greg, that ear bothers me, but the moment outweighed the 'focus' at the time. I'll be getting plenty of opportunities to really get off a good one though.

It's color is kinda strange. It'd try B/W with it. but it's still a good caputure, nice job.

Nah - you just had a moment and fired on your instincts. Good instincts. Convert it to b&w and the ear issue goes away. Its the color of the ear and not that it is out of focus that captures the eye in the color image I think....

Aw John...congratulations! What a beautiful little face your new granddaughter has.

I think this is a wonderful picture...you captured the moment really nicely. I think this would be nice in b&w, but I also like the pink in her blanket.

ok, it's nothing great, nothing that different. i just changed a few small things, i think it helped. the only thing i'm not too happy with is the ear, it looks a little funky in mine.

    Re: A Daddy's Love

Ear doesn't bother me a bit as the moment and faces hold my attention more than detail.
I'll be very pleased if I can capture such a moment when my grandaughter arives in June.

All factors considered, you managed to capture the moment.
The B&W version is a keeper, and a family moment that will be cherished by all !
Congratulations to all - a great pic, and your first grandchild.

    Re: A Daddy's Love

John, first off, congrats to you and your son...

Second, it would be wise for future reference to specify to whoever will be fixing your photos to uncheck the box where it says "Add to your gallery"

Finally regarding the image....I don't see much wrong with it....but I gave it a shot, and hope you don't mind since you already gave it a go before (And i am not adding it to my gallery )

Again, congrats for you and your son....
Here are 2 versions color and B&W.... For the color, i adjusted the levels, and then simply selected the ear went to color balance, and moved the slider Toward Cyan... for the black and white i simply DeSaturated and then adjusted the curves as such...the link will take you to a screen capture...

Screen Capture of the Curves adjustment

    Hope this helps!

PS: Frog, i think you were right, it is just the color of the ear...well at least i agree with you!

Marcus........no problem. I know it wasn't intentional, but these things do happen. Thanks for your input.

First off: Congratulations John!! She's gorgeous. You should be so proud.

The ear doesn't bother me but the fingers behind her head do a little. I would clone those out. But ultimately, I agree with everyone else. Great image of a precious and loving moment.

Thank you D, we're just bursting at the seams.

The fingers were another thing I was unhappy with. Like I say though, I'll have more moments.

    Re: A Daddy's Love

Crop most of the ear out of the photo, clone out the fingers in the background, and correct the colour in Photoshop and you will have a great photo.
