    Crime Scene?

    Hey Folks,

I've been AWOL for the past couple weeks. Busy with kids and that start of fantasy baseball season, not to mention the NCAA tourney... Anyway, here is a curious little shot I took a while back that I finally got around to processing. Makes you wonder if a dog is serving time somewhere... ;)

Let me know what you think!

(BTW, I have a panorama that I wouldn't mind posting, but it would be REALLY SMALL at 640 wide. How to you folks suggest posting that type of shot here?)

Either that or the dog had a reaaallly gooood time with this hydrant and the tape!
Appears to be good colors but a bit blurry in places where it shouldn't be? The grass looks in focus but not all of the hydrant.

Try posting the panorama in the gallery and linking to it.

    Re: Crime Scene?

    Marty,

Nice to see you posting again. Though I love the potential of this shot, it's just too soft/out of focus for me! I love the strong read and the clashing yellow, but it being out of focus just doesn't work for me. Great eye though and i love the title.

In regards to the pano....try hosting it on imageshack or photobucket...though I'm not sure of their pixel widths. Than just provide a link.

    Good shot.

    Re: Crime Scene?

Thanks for the quick replies guys!

I agree that it is too soft. I was trying to get a shallow DOF with it and I think I went too shallow. (Kind of like getting the back shoulder of the model in focus but the face blurry...) I probably should have gone with a middle aperture like f/8 or f/11 instead of f/4...

Here is another shot from a different angle. I feel like the shallow DOF works better here, since it is the back part of the hydrant that is out of focus...

Second picture is much better IMO. Better background, and the colors are great!

    Well done.
