    Creatures!!!

Just some random creature shots... I'm trying to get some nature experience, any thoughts on these?

    Re: Creatures!!!

My favorite out of the three is the panda because of the composition. It's off-center which draws attention and there is more than just the animal in the shot which gives the viewer more to look at. The flamingo (assuming that is what it is) could be improved if it was taken more from the front of the bird instead of the side so that all the dimensions of it can be seen. Also the other bird at the top by its head is distracting, and it would improve the shot if it was either not in the frame at all or completely in it. The third shot is good although the purple tint blends the head with the background a bit (could just be my monitor). The only way I would say to improve the rest of the shot is to move it down and to the right so that it draws more attention like the panda shot. As for nature in general keep in mind that you want to think of it as photographing people; show something about them in the photo, try to stay towards the front of the subject, and look to make sure the background and surroundings are simple so that the subject stays the main point (unless it adds to the photo such as the plants in the panda photo). Good work and I hope this all helped.

Thanks for the comments. I may try that gator in b&w to get rid of the color issue. The panda is my fav from that day too, I think.

Definitely love the panda shot...and how in the heck did you get such a great one?? I'm so jealous. I couldn't get nearly as close when we visited the National Zoo.

I agree about the other bird in the flamingo shot...and as for the alligator...I actually prefer the color version. That's just me though.

The panda was shot at 210mm. I'm on a kick with that lens lately. Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated!
