    Creamers Dairy

I finally had some time to get out and shoot some photographs. My favorite subject here in Fairbanks. I'm still learning how to use the Tokina. I have liked what I have seen so far though.

That's a nice looking sky. This shot has a good, peaceful "just before the hustle and bustle" look to it. Nice capture.

I agree with John, nice sky. For improvement, I might crop out part of the foreground. There's some distortion in the buildings there. Must be a pretty wide lens. The buildings are interesting but a little too dark for me. Wish there was something in the foreground - a cow, a tractor, etc - that could spice it up. But you can't always get the perfect sunset and still have al the other elements..

Real nice shot but that distortion kind of gets to me. I am no pro by any means, I think the sky for sure makes the shot.

    Not too bad, good job.

    How can I be lost
If I've got nowhere to go?

    Re: Creamers Dairy

This was taken with my new Tokina 12-24. It's probably not the best lens for architecture elements in the frame, it does distort quite a bit at 12mm but that's to be expected. I am still in the deciding stage on the Tokina vs Canon 17-40. One will go back eventually. I almost find the 12mm FOV to be too large sometimes, but some of that is due to me being used the the 17mm end of my 17-40.
I also wished for a better foreground element, this was actually taken at the spur of the moment. I was on the other side of the barn hoping the sun would light the clouds behind the barn and still provide some light for the barn itself. When it became apparent that the sun was never going to light the background clouds I switched sides and put the sunset in the background. I would like to try this one night a large light and paint the barn and house with light with a sunset in the background. BTW this "dairy" hasn't worked for years, it's a wildlife preserve now for migratory water fowl.
