    Covered bridge guts

Finally got out today to do some hiking and shooting, first time since being back on the east coast. it feels good to be in green again.

heres one i took at McConnells' mill state park about an hour north of pittsburgh. Its the inside of the covered bridge there. This photo prob has the most post editing i've done. I played with the graph, then i selected the square of trees and darkeened them a bunch.

Interesting perspective. Where you on the ground when you took this photograph?

    Re: Covered bridge guts

Hey, Dylan - this shot is missing that final piece (like a sundae without the cherries). I understand what you were going for. Your composition, presentation, bridge walls/ceiling, all point to... cut off trees. In how you're presenting this, I consider the bridge itself to be NOT the subject.

A good clear central subject in that opening is what is needed here. A small child, a small tree, a dog, a bike, ... something small yet whole. The backgound could be left blow-out and it may still work with the "right" subject. It would be a neat assignment to shoot this exact scene at different times of the day/seasons with different subjects.

    Hope that helps.

    Re: Covered bridge guts

    Thanks guys,

jbaldocchi- i was sitting in the middle of the road (1 lane) trying to avoid a trail of dripped oil or some other fluid.

loupey - your right, i was thinking a car since it is a bridge... however at this park its either feast or famaine, and theres no cars or to many to try to sit in the road. i was thinking i need to find someone with an old 1900's car to drive across.
