    The Cous

Took this picture of my cousin getting out of the lake while we were on vacation a few weeks ago. If anything, it was a lucky shot, but what do you think?

He looks like he is freezing. I like the lighting and the clarity of the picture. I really like how the light makes his hair look kinda blue. Good picture.

His eyes and skin are good but I can't say much for the bg, especially that blue thing.
The bg makes it an ok snapshot.

Naz - Yea the lake was freezing, I got in up to my waist and decided messing with the camera was a better idea.

    Rylan - Thank you

Frog - Well I was just getting to know the camera at the time, so like I said it was a lucky shot if anything. For future reference what would you have done with the bg? Changed the DoF? Angled it so the post was simply left out?

I wasn't there so can't say if moving would change the bg. A wider aperture might have helped but then if you were messing about with settings you'd miss the spontaneity.
What you have is a nice family snapshot.

I am not so sure that luck exists. You were there ready to take a photograph and got this. That is preparation not luck.

I'd say the white balance is too cool (blue) and you could crop quite a bit from the right of the frame.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: The Cous

Anyone can take a photograph, good photographs come from luck and skill. The more skill we have, the luckier we get (saw that one somewhere haha). When I took it, the white balance and aperture settings were luck.

I'll try the crop, I was practicing basic composition at the time (rule of thirds) so I put him to the side.

    Edit: Here is the crop....
