Please tell me what you guys think. And tell the truth, its why I come here, because i need people to critique my photography so I can better prepare myself for the future.

These were taken in Vermont, at the Hotel I was staying at.

I almost really like both of these. That is admittedly a backward way of saying they don't quite work because;
- Vermont has a lot of color I always like to see.
- The second photo could be really good except it has two sets or more of leading lines, the guard rail, and couple of roads. The tree limb almost points/leads to something as well. Makes me ask what is the subject or focus?
- The first photo I'd like to see the house, or the trees and fog, or the flag and the fog. Plus the contrast needs some adjusment.

I can just imagine both of these settings in that morning/afternoon light with fog so common in areas in the early a.m. Sometimes you can catch the most amazing color.

Apologies in advance if I've been to harsh. These pics have real possibilty, just I feel to much for black and white to make them more than just photos.
