    Corrugated Tin Building, C&C Welcome

    Hi All,

I've been jealous of all the great architectural shots being posted lately because this is an area that I want to improve on. I came across this old building on Alcatraz and I really like the lines and the textures, but I'd really like your input.

    Thanks,

I have one very much like this one I am going after when the elements are right. With this one I think you needed to go after it when the lighting was softer and the shadows less harsh. Maybe an overcast day would help or very early or late in the day The subject is good and the framing is nice.

    Greg,

Thanks for the comments. Here's where I'm probably running astray, I wanted to get the shadows to help offset all the vertical lines :-). Are you saying that it wouldn't be too much without the shadows?

I was also thinking of zooming in on the chimney and the little structure next to it, but didn't get a chance while there. Another possibility was to crop just to the left of the left window. Sigh.

I like the subject here. I think the shadows just distract, because of the real big one one the lower left. I think it would be a stronger image if you just had one window and the two chimneys, but if you cropped it, it might be to tight. If you shot on an overcast day I think getting some nice clouds would help offset losing the shadows. The subject is very appealing to me. This is a nice find.
