    The Corner Lot

One from this morning. I thought the house was abandoned. But in post I see someone standing in the door. I hope you can see this. My internet is down and I am posting with my phone.

Cool house! Love the straight ahead shot on this. And you're right I do see someone in the doorway and I think he's taking your picture!

I like the house but am not a fan of subjects like this taken straight on. Moving to the left and letting us see some of the side of the house would give the picture more depth IMHO, Jeff

    Hello Greg
To be honest I may not have noticed the person in the door had you not mentioned it. It looks more like a design in the glass/door. But I like it very much and taking it straight on in this case brings out the character of the building; a sort of portrait if you like. There is a bit of mystery in the mood of this shot too and the bit of white in the top centre window is a plus.
    B/W suits it very well.

Thanks Cindy. Thanks Tom. Jeff I agree with you but here there is so many trees and bushes I think an angle including the did would have been difficult.

This house the way you have portrayed it does look a bit spooky. I can see the person in the door but if you look real close at the bottom left window top right corner is that half someones face looking back at you ??

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

nice stark black. i don't mind the head on shooting in this as it is a somewhat documentary type of shot for me anyways. the person in the door is too small at this size but i'm sure at a normal print size they'll be more prominent. good stuff!

    Re: The Corner Lot

I think this straight on perpendicular angle works really well, keeping everything in one small flat plane. I'd like to see some more tonal detail in the sky, just so its not hot paper white. There appears to be a smidgen of softness in the weeds in the front lawn camera left..

Great detail, excellent BW conversion, great sharpness. Would love to see this in higher resolution.

*edit - was there some cloning done to the left of the house?

    Re: The Corner Lot

Greg, I can't see the person on this monitor. It's a decent shot, documentary style I think. I find these OK depending on their purpose, but not artistic as one loses depth perception. Of course that could be the intent too.

    Re: The Corner Lot

Thanks Charlie, I cloned a power line upper left. I think that was all. Very little post here. Mostly a Lightroom preset conversion. Thanks GB as always. I shot this with the Nex3 I held the camera as high as I could over my head trying to get more light coming through the upper middle window. Sometimes Live View really helps....
