    Copycat

    Hi All,
These shots are similar to Gary's recent shots. Just took them this evening in a wetland.

Both are good, strong shots. I like the shape of the chair in the second shot along with its beautiful color. If a feeling of desolation was your goal, I think the first works extreemely well. Nice work.
I find myself being inspired by Gary's work as well as by yours.

I prefer the second one because of the colors and drama that they add. Not sure if the chair would look better a little more to the right or not. My first impression was that it's too centered but then looking at it again I sort of get the impression that someone was once sitting in that spot, looking at the sunset... or something like that. *scratches head* I'm not sure...

Hi Chunk, Yes, desolation is the theme. As I said earlier, I tried to mimick his style. I guess "desolation" is the keypoint.

Hi PJ, Thanks for the analysis. The chair is deliberately put in the centre. I am also not sure it works or not.

I like both, but prefer the second as well. I like it that the chair is placed where it is. I feel that if it were off to the right, the sun and the chair would compete for my attention. Since theyre both in the same general area, my eye doesnt feel compelled to look at one or the other.

#1 is more interesting to me. I almost imagine someone sitting there. #2 doesn't feel like that. It's just a chair.

I like the top one best, the way the background is slightly fogged adds mystery to the shot. For whatever reason, I find the sun distracting and also somewhat wrong here, for the chair is very old and broken down and the sun as a dramatic feel that doesn't seem right of the subject. Nice work,
