    Colour, or B&W?

I toned down the yellow channel, to try to make the horrible bright yellow rape look more like wheat, other then that not much adjustment.
The colour original is here for comparison, and a quick question.
Was I right to make the B&W version?
Is there enough contrast to make the plane stand out from the background in B&W?

I think the colour version works better and a slight crop would help, the aircraft in the B+W just doesn't stand out that well

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

Don't see why you were not as all photographs were in black & white once.

I'm afraid not. I also find the original kind of flat, too.

Is there a white balance issue here?

Definitely the color version. It stands out well while the b&w has the plane blending in too much with the bg.

The original looks very good, Paul.

Wombat, B&W suits the subject better but with some adjustments in the conversion. Try adding a blue filter and pumping the local contrast - looks awesome (can post an example if you like)

Not sure on the model but it seems like it's an old aircraft. and in that respect, I think the a black and white adds a vintage feeling. So I vote B&W.
