    Re: The "cold" Tree

not so sure...it may not be the most creative of titles, but it is a very nice choice... i wouldn't change it...

As for the image, personally....I like it....and if i am to get a little picky (which is expected in the photo critique section) i would try to get rid of that little cloudy shape at the bottom left of the image just above the snow...

Otherwise, i like the composition and the colors...and although some might argue that at the top the sky seems a bit blown out... i have no issues with it at all....

    Great Shot...

What about calling it "A Frigid Tree" (you know you could always post an untitled image and ask for some help on it...not that my suggestion is great but.....)

I'd crop some of the left and top. That would also get rid of that little cloudy shape.
Just personal taste though so if you're pleased with it, that's what counts.

    Re: The "cold" Tree

I like it as well, I like the cloud. The blown out sky works for me because it looks cold. I might try to turn down the blue/purple look of the tree just very slightly, but that's just a matter of taste. Nice picture...

i see it as a photographic disaster just a typically blown sky and a tree suffering from terirble aberrations..

but we see what we see..

    Re: The "cold" Tree

I would also crop a little.

The blown out sky is a shame. Note that the snow is also almost lost. Can you do some PP on those areas? There needs to be more seperation betweeh the sky and the foreground. The tree is fine, but could be sharper.

I do like the matt/frame, but not the choice of black. I would change that to some color that more closely matches a color already in the photograph.

I don't think the sky is blown out, I've seen thing like this but I've been driving and haven't been able to stop. I would of composed the shoot differently but it works.

ill explain the situation. this was at sunset and the area in the shot is a cloud that dropped in front of the mountains. its was strangely brighter than would be expected so i took the shot. if you look in the background you can just make out the outline of the mountains.

Beautiful, I wouldn't change a thing. Just print and sell it.

I know next to nothing, but that never stopped my before.

Is the purple around the branches ice?

As others have mentioned a crop to the left might be considered.

    Love the compostion. Great shot!

purple fringing.. a digital problem.. an accident or special effect added afterwards.. i really do have to know..????

a photograph grabbed in extremely challenging conditions.. white snow.. white sky.. semi cloud.. all in all one pretty much guaranteed to produce the dreaded purple fringing as the contrast rapidly changes from dark tree branch to over-bright white light..

some times ignorance is bliss.. am i suffering from too little of it.. ??

I like this photo, a lot. The composition is very nice. The colors are terrific. I don't know how you managed the purple tree but it is great. As for the blown out sky/snow, I lived in snowy country for many years, which is why I now live in San Diego, but that is another story. I can imagine this scene is exactly how it appears. A nice photo telling a great story.

i do which is the problem.. he he he

chromatic aberations.. coloured fringing.. lens and sensor defects.. the inability of a digital sensor to handle abrupt contrast changes beteen light and dark.. a reason to thow a lens away that suffers badly from it..

i spend my life and good money trying to avoid it.. seeing an extreme example of it praised kinda leaves my jaw hanging open.. he he he

Wouldn't you turn purple if you were out there in the cold??

I like this photo a lot. It's beautiful the way it is.

I can see there are some details in the sky....have tried to bring it out a little more?

a while back i can remember saying this place needed to "lighten" up a bit.. it seems to have done that.. he he he

but.. that leaves me with a major inability to distinguish the jest from the serious.. time to readjust my medication dosage i think..
