    payn,

You might be able to take it but the structure won't :-)

Great tones in the structure, the sky could have done with an orange filter or possibly a red to boost the sky.

A couple of observations, The structure is too central in the photo for my liking and the tree trunk on the right should be cropped.

I would probably crop between the bush and the structure and then a small bit off the bottom.

Looks like a great place to photo lots of oppertunities. What is/was it?

LOL, it was a coal chute. I didn't know either. The train would pull under the chute, and be loaded with coal, which was then shoveled into the burner thingy, I guess. It is a neat place, and an unusual subject. You're right about the filter... Thanks for looking and commenting, it really helps alot, six months ago, this same shot would have been a LOT worse.

The black and white is great on this one. Can you get in close? There may be some great shots to be had there.

This is a great subject. Roger stated it nicely in that it is too centered. This looks ideal in b&w. So there are train tracks under that structure? I would like to see another shot in addition to this comp of viewing the tracks with the structure towering near. ( watch for trains )!!

Thanks for looking/commenting, Gary. When the sky is right, I plan to reshoot. The tracks are not visible anymore, at least not near this site, unfortunately. This time I will reshoot with my 28 prime though, instead of the kit lens, and perhaps get a little closer. Any other suggestions?

Yes wear a hard hat and steel toe cap boots and kevlar for the body - just in case :-)

Looks like a breeze could topple it.

    Re: Coal chute...

This does look like a great location for several good images.

In addition to several very good suggestions let me add that filling more of the frame with the structure, even to the point of cropping out portions, might prove to make some very strong images.

There's a small attached structure on the front of the taller one that could make a possible nice contrasting element in a closer view of the 'chute'.

Shots with buildings of this nature often involve featuring the angles of the various components like the round of the silos in relation to the square/rectangular windows.

    Looking forward to more!
