    CN Tower

    Well, It's finally spring time!

Got out yesterday for my first day of shooting of the year (I can't stand shooting in the winter) and what better way to start off my spring Collection than a shot of our most well known landmarks

The CN from a different angle.

thats a pretty cool angle of the CN tower would have been nicer if the cars weren't there in my opnion but I guess thats nearly impossible in Toronto. I just keep looking at the cars and not the main subject of the photo. I think a night/ dusk shot from that angle would look pretty cool too.

Yeah, I tried cropping out the cars but it just wasn't the same but I hear what you're saying about them not being there in the first place. Thanks for the night shot suggestion, I also was thinking about that. The buildings would probably be nicely lit also.

    Leels,

I like your angle and I find the color scheme to be quite fantastic. I have an easy solution for the cars... Crop them out! lol Seriously, It seems to me that you can easily loose the bottom of the picture without hurting it. I am not sure if I am comfortable with the strong perspective. I guess that it could have been corrected a little (without totally straightening the buildings).

    regards

    Re: CN Tower

I think the monotone colors of the two buildings on the sides really help to draw attention to the dramatic CN Tower in the middle. The slant of said buildings also acts as a contrast to the perfectly straight CN. Well done. Play with some tighter crops though, I think there's potential there for multiple strong images.

    Hi Liban,
I like how you contrast the Tower with the 2 buildings. I especially like the left building which has an irregular shape.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I think a tighter crop is what the doctor ordered here. That or close down the intersection. Well, I settle for the crop.

Consider playing with a tryout version of DxO Optics Pro to correct the wide angle distortion of the buildings framing the shot. Then you will no for sure whether the correction or the original looks best.

I like this as is, it shows the hustle and bustle of the city with a very strong image which is framed using the two buildings. The colours are spot on and the sky getting lighter the further away you go is excellent. I like that everything is pin sharp as well.

I have been back to this a couple of times and my opinion hasn't changed except on my 3/4 viewing I spotted the cycles with no people but they have a parking area which adds to the bustle of the city.

I also like the fact that it is not completely symmetrical just slightly off.

After reading the comments of the others I have to disagree with all of them and I vote for keeping it as is.

One thing that might be interesting is if the tower's middle was in direct alignment with the peak of the roof to give you complete symmetry in positions - but you may be in the middle of an intersection of the roads for that one - but then again it might not work because of what is omitted in the current photo.

    Re: CN Tower

    Ronnoco,

I didn't think about fixing the tilt of the two buildings. IMO. It adds to this shot. Somewhat of a humbling gesture from two buildings that can't compare to her majesty "CN Tower III".

    Roger,

Thanks for the alternate look on the action below the buildings. The responses were unanimous until now! I think I've been brainwashed by the above responses and am going to reshoot this late at night when there isn't many cars (which is quite rare). I'm also very interested in what this scene would look like captured at night.

As for this shot. I've tried different crops just recently but none really worked.

At first I tried cropping right above the top of the cars. That looked wierd because the traffic lights looked to be "floating" and "baseless". So I went even further up and got rid of them all together. Like this:

and that doesn't work too well. So I decided to go with the original here and just reshoot a night (with no cars) or an early day also with no cars.
