    Re: Closed shops

Beautiful shot Lee, like always. I love the DOF and the way the lights reflect off the deserted street.

Also, can I give my feedback in the form of a question?

I'm not saying it's good or bad, just honestly curious. Lee why did you include the step in the bottom 1/3 of the frame? I keep looking at it and I cant decide if I like it or not. I like the way the lines flow into the street in the top of the frame but the patches of old gum kindof distract me, but not that much.

Just curious about your thought process when you composed this one.

    Re: Closed shops

    hey maples,

wanted to let you know, i prefer your approach . Ask me all kind of questions. Totally fine with me as long as I can answer them.

The bottom bit hhmm, at least you understood they were steps! i wished I included the entire steps, but didn't and that was my bad. I was shooting up high and wanted to include the entire scene. but now looking back, i should've included the steps. that would've transitioned this shot nicely.

I think if I moved forward a little more I could've gotten those, but I didn't. I looked through my entire photos from that place and didn't find a corrected one. Seems , at the time I didn't understand this problem.

so to answer your question, why did i include the bottom? I think now without shooting the steps, the bottom becomes necessary . kind of like an anchor. Without it the shot would be very top heavy.

Thanks for such a great question

LOVE the ghosts on the street! Agree with Maplestreet though, probably one step forward would have made a lot of difference in the feel of this one.
