    closed doors

    I was intrigued by this.
On one side, a closed pit garage door.
On the other side, an open pit garage door
BUT with the personnel door shut even with the car door open !!

Neat, but kinda missing something inthe foreground like a car or driver. How did you get close? I would have thought that area would be off limits.

    It was.
Until the 1pm pit-walk while teams stopped for lunch.
Then we got an hour down there ourselves.

    Hello SmartWombat,

I find this picture to be really neat. In fact this is probably my favorite from you. The patterns are great and I find the lighting to be interesting although there is quite a strong contrast betwen the two side of the picture.

I took the liberty to mess with your picture in order to make the light more even and retrieve details on the right side.

    regards

    Re: closed doors

I meant to comment on this the other day Paul, I don't know why I didn't. I like this too. The subtle fact that the little door is closed while the large door around it is wide open is the real strength in this well composed shot. I like the great expanse of quiet space on the right and the interesting details in the stands and beautiful wash of light on the left. Nice balance somehow.

I agree that it could be improved a bit by getting some more saturation and contrast in the well lit part of the scene. I'd make a careful selection (maybe feathered just a bit) and do a levels adjustment and then a slightly sagging curves adjustment. I wouldn't want 'jump out at you' saturation - just a strengthening. I'd leave the darker areas be.

Then I'd sell it to Foster's for some kind of 'Anticipation' ad or at least to hang on the wall at corporate HQ.

Nice, but for me it is missing something, I kept scanning the photo and I thinking something red in the pic to focus on would have made it for me.

Red? Unfortunately Toyota were in jerez (wher I'd rather had been!) and only Joradan and Williams were there.
