I shot these for my buddy who does reenactments. it was a major overcast day and was hard to do. Should I have used a filter of sort?

The third one is reminiscent of a Brady Civil War photo.I like it a lot.

I like the action in the last one, but the houses in the background take it out of the historical setting. (Sort of disconcerting the guy shooting the gun has his eyes closed!!)

The White building is the only one still standing from when the Union army burned the town down because they would not take thee side, They never did rebuild the town of Dayton Missouri

The overcast day certainly hurt these photos...they are gray, but you can fix that to a degree in photoshop. I think messing around with the contrast in these photos would be beneficial. Really great horseback action shots....it is not too often that we get to photograph a reenactment.....nice job on a rare opportunity.

I love the second shot in the first set.... I think it would look perfect in B/W or Sepia

I like these photos. Reminds me of a trip to Gettysburg I took a few years ago. I love the pictures of the horses, especialy the action shot. The color shot of the gear really doesnt fit, if it was b & w it would fit, as is it doesnt. Great shots.

what would you do for overcast days? maybe a neutral density filter?I would try to meter the sky and then the subject and go for in the middle but everything came out extremely bright
