    City geometry

Another shot from Atlanta. I am not sure if it stands, but I like the shapes. I am torn on it, perhaps I need more going on or something. Any thoughts?

Good catch, I like it. I think that there is enough going on to make the photograph stand on it own. I am sure that most people wouldn't have seen this while passing by.

I prefer the first one over the alternate take. The first one is a little more of an abstract (although not literaly an abstract...) due to the tighter crop.

I prefer the second, not so much because of the greated building view in the foreground, but because of what seems like increased contrast. I like the graduation of the sky also.

    Re: City geometry

I like the first one better. To me, the buildings at the lower right corner detracts from what I believe you are emphasizing. I might try to crop out the right side a bit.

I'm not sure it needs the small building on the right.
Seb, what's your opinion on cropping from tthe right to remove that ?

The slight "slice" of building that remain visible at the extreme right? I can't say that it distracts me but it is somewhat useless. Thinking about it, I guess that I would crop it if the picture was mine.

    I would, too.
But as a learner, compositionally, I want oither opinions.

I can point, and shoot, and sometimes get what I saw.
I still feel a beginner in the art of the photograph.
    Therefore hesitant in commenting sometimes.

    Re: City geometry

Thank you all for your comments.

Paul, you are right, it could do without. I felt so unsure about this one that i didn't even pay that much attention. If you are a beginner, that would make me a single-cell organism

Loupey, you may be right about that crop, I'll have to give it a go.

What appeals to me has finally shown itself. I think it is the modern building in the foreground against the art-deco in the back.

Seb, thanks for your kind words.

GB1, I am not sure why, they are the same shot, one just cropped. perhaps the shadow under the ledge makes it appear so.

Now this one actually ties together better! I believe the suggestions regarding the building at the lower right are quite valid, it probably could be removed and then you'll have a more abstracted vision presented with several contrasting architectural elements all overlayed in one.

The monochromatic solids in the lower left foreground become enhanced by the other styles with a good graduated sky wrapping up the package if you lose the buildings in the lower right. Good lines and fine catch.

I'm not Loupey( at the moment anyway) but this is exactly what I was thinking would work better. You might want to cut just a little more off the top to present a better proportion but this is the idea!

Yeah, that's it! I think it's now much cleaner, more succinct. Great job.

    Re: City geometry

I also prefer the last crop, eliminating the small building on the right. upon viewing the image originally, it just felt unbalanced compositionally. sort of like the masses on the left were outweighing the small building at the right. Now, with the elimination of the small building and the tightening of the frame it takes on more of an art-deco type feel where initially it was trying for that but still looking like a ctiy scape. Just my thought on it.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone.

DRG, you are right, I already fixed it.
