    Church Door

B&W version from an old church in Richmond, England. The wall is made of flint stone.

    Re: Church Door

my first impression was that this was too contrasty in that I can not see enough of the door and it's texture. But the more I look, the more I accept it as it is and find the harsh contrasting tones a treat for the eyes. The framing is great. I might prefer a bit less contrast, but that is only personal preference and not critique. It is a fine image

    Hello Tuna
Have we seen this one in colour in the past? Maybe not.
You have placed the door nicely off center and it looks very stately and noble. The contrast brings out the flint wall very well and also the textures in the stonework either side of the arch. Maybe a little less contrast in the door only (especially at the top just to seperate it a little more from the blackened arch) but this coulld easily be a monitor setting thing. The best photographs to me are the simple ones (often the hardest to get) and this one is a success.

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan
