I like it. It seems a little dark, but that's probably just my monitor.

    Re: Church

this is a different perspective which is a good start..If you could move to get more of the right side of church..same angle. To get more of the alley brighter you will need to shoot in darker conditions..so as not ot blow out the sky too bright...night shot!..set a slow shutter speed and high aperture..16? or so..tripod of course....might turn out real nice. Good luck!
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

    Re: Church

I don't mind the darkness of the alley as it gives the mood. A tad brighter maybe but not much. I don't like the color of the church...Is that what color it is?

I think this shot has a lot of potential. It's an interesting perspective. I agree with the rest of the comments and would add that you may want to either straighten the shot (it's leaning slightly to the right) or tilt it more to emphasize the effect -- but I think I'd just go for the straightening.

I also like the mood the vignetting and the tone set.

Yeh thats acutally the color not too nice really it just looked like a good shot at the time.
Its a tiny bit brighter through editing but you can basically see its original color.

    Re: Church

Callum - Welcome. The way I see it, you have a good idea here in that you are trying to show a diamond in the rough (so to speak). It's partially successful.. the yellow building does show up reasonably well though it is perhaps a shade darker/more overcast than ideal (hey, but it was in the UK, right??) The building is partially obscured by the stairs and the right side building there, so you perhaps could have gotten a better angle. However, sometimes low angled shots are much more interesting than flat ones (imho). Notice that the building is rotated too, about 5 degrees or more to the right. You can rotate it in PS to correct. I would then consider cropping out the bottom 1/3 of the shot -- the stairs, etc -- and see what you get.

Hope to see more of your shots in the future

    Re: Church

Hi Callum and welcome to the forum from a fellow Brit (London now, but I lived in Gateshead for a short time). The others have pointed out the various issues pretty thoroughly, but I just want to add that I like your attempt to do something a little different. Really inexperienced photographers would rarely try an angle like that, and it shows you have the "eye" and a willingness to find your own approach. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

    Cheers
