    China ... a few more

Hi guys .. another few images from my week in China.

The first is from the Jade Buddha Temple in Shanghai .. they have a Buddha made of Jade which is utterly exquisite - more than life size and carved from one piece of white jade. Unfortunately there is no photography permitted of it. This picture was in the courtyard outside where dozens and dozens of people lit incense and prayed. It was a bustling place.

The second, keeping to the jade theme, was a more technicallly difficult photograph to take - it is a jade carver at work. She was obviously very skilled.

The third is from the Great Wall - a section about 50 miles from Beijing.

That will do for today! Hope you enjoy!

Again, these are great but I will critique them anyway.

#1. Great perspective and I like the way you have people visible through the openings in the fireplace screen. I would crop everything to the left of his coat tail to make the image clearly focus on him and the fire with a crowd in the background. There is nothing behind him that is interesting-the woman that would be cropped out is just standing there and you can't see much of her face.

    #2 Sweet!

#3 I'd like the camera pointed just a little lower to slightly reduce the sky (since in this image there is nothing interesting going on in the sky) and increase the foreground by the same amount. If the sky were better this would be fine but when you were there the light wasn't all that great.
    No, I DON'T need that.

I'm really enjoying these images. The second one is excellent. (what is that, a plastic or rubber coat she is wearing)?
The first I agree with cropping the woman on the left. It is good but improves by focusing on the man mostly.
The third, of the Great Wall is fine but I agree to reduce the amount of sky here. Too bad the sky was not in dramatic form for you that day, but you still and yet produced a very good image.
    looking forward to the rest!

Re: China ... a few more

Thanks guys for the comments, which are always appreciated.

I agree totally about the crop in the Buddha Temple .. I am kicking myself for not seeing it. Here is a new version.

I will shave a touch off the sky in the great wall picture too. Unfortunately, the master of that particular one doesn't allow me to add more foregound. However, I will put another three images up today one of which will be another great wall picture.

gahspidy - they were just things she slid over her arms - I'm guessing they were protective.

    Cheers
