Cheung Chau (Literally Long Island) Hong Kong

I took these pictures while I was spending my vacation in Cheung Chau, a small island in Hong Kong. Are they good or bad? Pls kindly let me know your thought.

    Happy shooting

    Alex...

I like your style. It's very simple and uncluttered. for instance
    1. sky-mountain
    2.sky-mountain-water
That minimal style is very appealing to some people (including me).
But think about it, those pics could be from anywhere. Why be in hong kong and not have pics that show it? Do you have any? I'd love to see them.
Number 2 is dark as the others said, but that sun makes up for it. That's very cool. My favorite part is the sun on the water. Reminds me of a famous painting. Again, nice style you have. Keep posting.

    Kit,

Thanks for your support and accurate comment. Yeah, I took the frist one while I was laying on the bed feeling bored because of the bad weather. I need something to contextualize it, something about HK. Thanks again for your valuable comments.

    Best,

    Alex

    Alex,

There is quite a bit of potential in both shots. These were good opportunities and you took them.

    First shot: sunset over water
I would have tried not to cut the fishing boat pole (I guess you just miss a couple of pixel to get the whole boat in the frame). I would then have used a split ND filter to tune down the sky and sun, and use the additional f-stop to bring out the water/sun reflection and boat. The shot is indeed a bit underexposed.

    Second shot: mountains ans sky
Call me boring with my split ND, but I would have used it here again to give the clouds just above the mountain range a bit of shape. I would then have cropped the top half of the picture to get a panoramic format.

I am looking forward to more of your shots! Thanks!

    Cheers!

    Steph.
