The first one is kinda wishy-washy for me. The shadows really complicate it IMO. The light on the main stem also is a tad harsh for my liking. It's a great DOF and good colors but the lighting is off for me.
And for the second one, brilliant. I like the lighting on this one as it seems to highlight and accent the right things and really make the top few blossoms pop. Again, wonderful DOF and a great shot.
Of the two pictures i really like the top one for the way you framed the flower
but there is really harsh lighting and the background has some distracting tones in it so you loose my attention

I really like the second one. The white and especially blue background make the whole picture pop a lot more to me. Maybe a little more saturation even?! lol I love saturated contrasty pictures.
I think they are both good - I do agree about the stem being a little distracting. The 2nd one is beautiful. Good job with the shadows, contrast and color - good composition.

I go for the one with the branch myself. The diagonal of the wood helps composition, I think. I also like the differential focus - makes it sort of 3-D.
These are lovely, I just recallibrated my monitor and this just pops out at me.
Beautifully captured and the lighting fits them perfectly. The DOF is set to perfection and the textures in the branch and the flower petals are wonderful.
Not surprised you have it as your desktop. Personally I'd prefer it hanging on the wall, but then I'm an oldy :-).
