    Chance reflection

I drive by this location every day When I saw this at night. It looked so much different.
The sprinklers had just finished the evening cycle, there was a wet sign out front.I lined up the tripod at the end of the sign.

As I saw it. There are a few hot spots in this,I feel there is room for improvement. I liked this for the 180 degree depth. You can see the large version of this in my gallery.
Critique this if you please. I'm here to learn.
    Thanks

Lovely image - I like the patterns from the roof and the windows reflecting in the pool and that blue is beautiful.

Composition for me is spot on.

Beautiful reflection. Love the lighting. The composition just seems a hair off though. First, your "horizon"/reflection point seems dead center. Second, the shot is at a slight angle. It's just enough so the you can't tell if it was intentional or if you were planning to shoot straight on but, were a little off center. Any chance of a reshoot? Just seems to need a slightly different perspective to make it perfect.

I framed this dead center for the 180 effect and it being a 10mm capture keeping the lense distortion to the min. See how everything is true perpendicular?
Horizon does look tilted. I missed that. .5 degree to the left.My bad.
I did shoot slightly off center to minimize flare, ghosting from the harsh light on the horizon.I was using a 77mm skylight filter.
Thanks again. Your tips for cropping or placement of the tripod?
Yes,the sprinklers come on every day... LOL

I never claimed to have the answers ...LOL I'm with you, still learning... or at least trying to. I might try shooting it dead on and Photoshop any flares/ghosting but, move the horizon point up a bit, focusing more on the reflection rather than the actual building... or since there's the extra flood light on the left, maybe line up the right edge of the reflection so it's straight on... or...? I dunno, it just seems to need something but, I can't put my finger on it Sorry

    Rick,

Really nice images. I like night photos, and really like reflections and this captures both. Real nice job.

    Re: Chance reflection

    Thank you.
The light in the night sky was beautiful on this evening, the long exposure let it in.
I do know that with work this could only get better. I appreciate the tips, suggestions to improve.
A reshoot is required to try several different compositions using some of the accepted standards of composition.
Maybe I'll try the 50mm focal plane.

    looks like and abstract eyeball.

it feels like it wraps right around your own eyeball.

    Rick,

Nice shot. It's an interesting composition, but the blown lights are somewhat distracting to me. Have you tried bracketing the shot and then working them in PS? I like the colors and would hate to lose those by too short of an exposure.

I also like the tighter crop of the first image. The sides of the buildings don't really offer too much to the overall shot.

I really like the arch and the reflection and would probably opt for a portrait orientation instead of landscape to focus on that area.

I like the pano shot...next time go throw a colored tarp of your choice over that light in the center..thats only thing really distracting and holding you back from getting more definition in the middle with a slower shot
