    Champagne Glasses - Wedding

Hi all .. re the 'Viewfinder' thread, this is one picture I am especially drawn to. It's two champagne glasses at my daughter's wedding. Early in the morning I went down to deliver the flowers and place them on the tables. While there I set this one up. (If you look at the Viewfinder thread, you can see how I've played with it)

As always, any comments are appreciated.

    Cheers

    Re: Champagne Glasses - Wedding

I like this, the glasses are empty, hinting at the celebration to come

On the other hand if they were filled we'd have the colour instead of the clear glass, and a different optical effect.
I'm not sure anyone else would appreciate the idea of the glass half full/empty ?

I think it is beautiful compositionally but I don't think your focal point is on the glasses and wish it was.

That is a nice idea, I'll have to use it at my next wedding shoot.

BTW the color seems a little cool to me.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: Champagne Glasses - Wedding

Thanks for looking guys. unfortunately (for then I could have drunk it!) it was when I was setting up, and the champagne was still in the fridge!

MB1 it was a simple idea which just occurred to me when I was actually photographing the flowers. I had another look and I agree with you that it was a little cool - so I applied a very light warming filter from PS which seems to have done the trick. I also cloned out the out-of-focus sprig top left.

    Cheers

    Re: Champagne Glasses - Wedding

Mike - It's aesthetically pleasing, but it might be inverted so to speak due to the flowers at the top. I think the mass should be at the bottom, like a triangle. Note that Leonardo de Vinci arranged the objects in triangles - model, background objects, etc - in many of his paintings so to achieve a strong compositional effect. I don't immediately see that here, though there are a lot of very nice colors and soft elements. It is a bit cool, btw, though still pleasing.
